Experienced marketing trainer
Steve has been a senior marketing tutor since 1993 at Cambridge Marketing College, Europe’s leading centre for the delivery of Chartered Institute of Marketing courses. During this time, he has trained and mentored over 1000 marketers in the UK and abroad. He is a Chartered Marketer, a Fellow of the College and a Market Research Society member. Steve has over 30 years marketing experience at senior and board levels in B2 B, B2 C and not for profit organisations.
Steve delivers the Chartered Institute of Marketing programmes at all levels up to and including postgraduate diploma and achieves consistently high pass rates. The current modules which Steve delivers at UK centres are; Marketing Information and Research, Managing Marketing, Project Management in Marketing and Marketing Leadership and Planning.
Marketing Leadership and Planning is at Masters Level and focuses on the importance of effective strategy development, market orientation, leadership styles and organisational culture. Steve is passionate about developing marketing leaders and is currently in discussions with both the schools and business sectors to create new pathways by which tomorrow’s top level marketers can be nurtured.
In addition to his College teaching duties, Steve also provides tailored marketing training to major organisations from sectors including; biotechnology, healthcare, construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, diesel-electric locomotives, public sector, telecommunications, legal services, charitable trusts, financial services, sports and home improvements. He has run short courses and seminars on exhibitions and events management, marketing planning and strategy, time management, marketing research techniques. Steve has also undertaken train the trainer courses in the marketing research area.
Steve has recently written an handbook on marketing research which is to be published by Kogan Page.
Prior to establishing his own firm, Steve was CEO for the UK’s leading food exhibition business, Head of Marketing for a weighing solutions company supplying the food retail and manufacturing sectors and Research and Planning Manager and Branch Manager for a major home improvements business.
Delivering marketing and research consultancy alongside teaching marketing, management and research skills makes good sense as a business portfolio. Although striking the balance between being a practitioner and a lecturer is not always an easy one, the value in being both a teacher and doer is not lost on students or clients. As a regular teacher of marketing, management and research, Steve has an unique view on where marketing is now and where it needs to be in the future.
Steve is passionate in everything that he does. He has a strong belief in the value and potential value of organisations taking a market oriented approach. His work ethic is centred on getting the best possible results for organisations through developing the talents of their people.
